First Aid Tips: Blisters
There is a commonly held misconception that it is best to break the surface of a blister and drain the fluid. However, this is actually a very bad idea! When you pop a blister you expose the underlying fresh skin and leave it vulnerable to infection and damage. The fluid is there to keep the skin clean and promotes healing. If left alone most blisters will heal naturally on their own and the fluid will be absorbed back into the skin.
